There were so many different cures, from silicon grease on the rear door rubber to drilling holes above the roof lining, not forgetting the setting of the little sprung plastic stops, which all seemed to work then suddenly the rattle would reappear. The real fault (my opinion) is the very weak rear door hinges, which are not quite the right shape (mine always had the rear door touching the roof when opened) but too weak laterally for the heavy door.
Rear door is correct Alfa-speak for tailgate.
It used to be the Japanese who were totally unable to admit a fault.

Forgot the other rattle, 3 years since my GT went, the retaining clip that holds the rear seats upright, easily broken but cheap to replace, sounds like the "rear door" rattle. Look for it in the 147 parts, it's in my 2005 ePer.

Solved my boot noise today! There are 2 metal studs on the lid of my GT with rubber caps on the end, which sit on the base when closed- one was missing but the other was the one which was making the noise. I took the cap off and it seems to have solved it!

I'm having the exact same problem! My boot hinges moves side to side, and seems that I need a new set of hinges. Does anyone know where I can buy new boot hinges?
