156 1.9 jtd suspension....opinions please
My trusty 2005 156 has now travelled 131000 miles...but now the suspension is very tired and in need of TLC.
I have started collecting parts for what will be a complete rebuild. Have got front upper and lower arms (TRW), rear transverse arms, bumpstops X 4, wishbone bolts and bolts and spacers for rear arms enroute from Eb Spares, Eibach anti-roll bars to be ordered tomorrow. Front and rear strut upper mountings, rubber rings and thrust rings, front strut fork bolts and nuts sitting ready in my shed. Also have most other nuts, bolts and washers. Radius arms already done and hub bushes replaced with Powerflex stuff (I may do the transverse arms and front uppers with Powerflex)
Only outstanding parts to order are new shocks and maybe springs. The car is Veloce spec so low enough; the ride hight appears to be fine which leads me to think that I may not need new springs??? But I think I might go all the way...Bilstein B6 and Eibach springs from Alfisti.net will set me back circa €600, Alfastumper do some interesting stuff...
I live in the north west of Ireland so drive upon many roads of various quality, but I refuse to go near "bog roads"!!! Too much respect for that. Every week I travel from home to Dundalk via Omagh, Auchnacloy, Armagh, Newry and motorway/dual carriageway. 123 miles each way which is good fun...but not as it should be with tired suspension.
So what say all you people with loads of experience? I'm going to be keeping my car for a few more years so I am open to all advice.
