I'm Back... well nearly..
Long time since I was an Alfa owner since I sold my 147 GTA quite a few years ago, I have been in company car land for the last 4 years, but I am about to change jobs and as such need to get another car to cope with my 80 odd mile daily commute.
So as I hadn't planned this job change I am on a budget of around 2k so I thought, ummm why not get another 156 2.4 JTD Sportwagon, I loved my last one and with it having been remapped by Monza Sport it went very well indeed.
So as I have been out of the Alfa loop a while I thought what better place to get some advise.
looking at the adds, ebay, autotrader I can get a facelift 2.4 S/W for under 2k, but they have prob done over 130k miles, any problems to be aware off with high milers?
I read about dual mass flywheels and front lower and upper wishbones but anything else I should look our for?
I will definately be getting it remapped again, any new companies out there that come recommended, I used Angel tuning last time for my 147 GTA.
I see the 1.9 JTDm (150) is quite common, whats the cam belt recommended change on these, as I seem to remember the old 1.8/2.0 TS engines going down to 32k for a belt change!!
Failing that if I could get cheaper V6 it would probably cost me the same after a year...
I don't mind getting my hands dirty and I am quite good with a set of spanners so I don't mind the odd repair, but it needs to be reliable to get me to work, and maybe for towing my caravan around as it will be a back up for our Land Rover discovery.
Any help or if you know of any such cars for sale please let me know, it will be good to be back in the fold.... be quick else I will have to get a mondeo lol
