156 Pre Facelift Twinspark

Can anyone tell me where the idle stepper motor and/or idle control valve is on these engines please?

I'm not sure, but if it has a drive by wire throttle it may not have a separate idle control. The ECU can adjust the throttle itself to control idle speed.

Early 156 twinspark (CF2) has a 6-pin Bosch unit on the throttlebody which does the idle control and feeds back throttle position to the ECU. From December 2000 onwards they moved to an electronic throttlebody which controls the idle directly by moving the butterfly.

Is your car having a sticky throttle problem? Let me know if this part fixes it as I have the same issue! Bit embarrassing having the car stuck at 1500rpm every now and then.....
