accumulator testing on a 156 selespeed?
Hi there, a few years ago I sold my 156 to very nice old chap (in his 70's)who has taken very good care of it since, he's the brother of my neighbour and last week I bumped into him and he mentioned the Alfa had a gearbox fault and the garage had recommended he scrap the car. He was pretty upset as he really likes the car, not only that he's starting chemo on friday and doesn't want to be without a car or go through the hassle of buying another car.
I said I will look over the car for him to try and find the issue, I plugged in multiscan and could see the hydraulic pressure is going up to 70bar then dropping back down to 40ish over around 10 - 15 seconds, its bringing up the fault code for the pump relay soon as it hits 70.
I downloaded alfadiag as well, some people mention it's likely the accumulator to be at fault, I'm happy to replace it for him, but want to double check it's likely to be the issue, he's going through a awful lot at the moment and I would like to try and help him out if possible.
