Gear change bushes

Hi Guys

Having been researching 147 common faults with a view to buying one I have noticed that there is a problem with the "top hat" bushes on 147 & 156 gear linkages.

The solution seems to be fairly straightforward by simply changing the faulty bushes, what i've been wondering is has anyone tried replacing them with bronze oilite bushes?

They'd be longer lasting & self lubricating & would probably outlast the rest of the car.

as far as i know there are only the plastic ones available.....its not a massive issue anyway..just means side to side movement of gear stick is a touch easier
