Re: where to buy an AFM?
Don't bother with the AFM's on offer from the Portland Group. I can assure you from personnel experience there no good. I've had two. The first one I sent back for replacement because the car stalled when accelerating from about 2500 rpm. I asked why they showed a picture of a genuine Bosch unit on top of a Bosch box but supplied a pattern part. They declined to answer the question just sent me a replacement, pattern one again, and again wrapped in a plain white box which also gave unsatisfactory results. The units they supply have all the same moulded in markings of the Bosch unit, part number and Airflow direction, and the body is very slightly larger, but without the Bosch brand name moulded in. I guess they are a Chinese copy. I've since cleaned the original with Carb Cleaner and a cotton bud and now it performs O.K. What happened to the quality and reliability we used to get with Bosch equipment. We blame the Car Maker when experiencing faults with their vehicles but a lot of faults are associated with specialist electronic equipment manufacturers products like Bosch?
