12v socket wrong size?

Recently bought my first Alfa (Gt Blackline), and at the weekend noticed that my satnav doesn't quite plug in to the cigarette lighter socket...

If anything the socket seems to be too shallow, as the cable doesn't hold in place properly. Never experienced this before (I assumed all 12v sockets were the same size!) - is there an adapter I can get hold of or should I replace the socket itself?

quite simple it is shallow....as you have found out, it would be easier to try find a lead with a shallower end

What I done with my sat nav when I had the same trouble with my old Seicento was take the plug apart and bend the pins out a bit. Less than ideal but it holds in nice and tight and still has the spring to fit in larger sockets.
