156 GTA problems

Hi Guys, new to this forum, but you guys all seem really helpful.
So hopefully you can give me some advice...

I just bought an 02 plate 156 GTA, pictured here

After an uneventful driver home, on driving to work this morning, the battery light flicked on. I tried to restart, and the console said 'abs faliure'. and now the car wont start at all.
I looked underneath the car and there appears to be some sort of cable hanging down just behind the front wheels as well.

Having only picked the car up last night i am obviusly a little annoyed. Does anyone know what the issues could be? Should I cut my losses and return the car? I dont want to, and Ive never had any problems with my previous alfa's. Im just pretty upset. Any advice would be appriciated.

Many thanks

Re: 156 GTA problems

Dont be too hasty. If it wont start at all it might be a battery issue. Not sure about the ABS light though. Try posting on the GTA/GT forum, more GTA owners there

Re: 156 GTA problems

Did you buy it at a dealer as the photo suggests?
Phone them up and complain bitterly until they resolve it! And demand a courtesy car in the meantime!

Re: 156 GTA problems

Hi, there is a separate GTA sub-forum that might get you faster responses.

In your position I'd not be too hasty until the battery is definitely decently charged, modern cars show all sort of weird issues if the battery is low.

And definitely harras the dealer, if you bought it from one, it's not fit for purpose at the moment...

Re: 156 GTA problems

The cable behind the front wheels could be from the sensor for the ABS on the caliper, which would explain your warning light.
Mine had a faulty battery shortly after I bought it too, if your Car has been stood for a while at a dealers then it's likely to have drained the battery. Don't be too hasty because these are likley just to be minor niggles which any dealer worth his salt will sort for you FOC.

Good luck.
