Re: Lights On Dash
Yeah, I managed to coax a bonus 6 months of life out of a front sidelight bulb!
The bulb warning light only shows blown bulbs that should be on. SO at click one on the light stalk the only lights it can be showing as blown are the front side lights, the rear sidelights and the rear number plate lights. I found that one of my rear side lights was on and working fine, but showed a fault, I replaced it with a new one and the warning light went out!
The system works by looking for a certain resistance or lack of it. If a bulb is on its way out the resistance may change? Might be worth picking up some new bulbs and changing them while checking the warning light, the rears as about 60p each, the fronts a couple of quid! Not a lot, and then you'd have spares.
Oh PS, always replace in pairs, I have found that when one goes, the other goes in sympathy a couple of days/weeks later! Happened on my headlight bulbs and front sidelights(Which aren't a hassle to change, as long as you have patience and some good 45 degree long nose pliers!)
