Ok first of all, I went to Halfords to get a side light fitted - yes...i'll hang my head in shame...
for someone who's regularly done his own servicing and small mechanical jobs in the past im not proud to admit it! But i vaguely remember losing the will to live the last time i did it.
Anyway side light had blown a while ago/warning light on dashboard etc. As the new bulb was being fitted it kept intermittently switching on and off as the "technician" was trying fit the new bulb back into the headlamp unit, he kept having to twist/wriggle the bulb for it to come on.
He reckoned the connector pin inside of the side holder was slightly bent, which looking at it myself it was... slightly, but not massively noticeable. He suggested straightening the pin with long nose pliers.
But long and short of it is im a tenner down and still no working bulb!
So is this an issue with the pin inside the holder, or could it be wiring, or is it possible there a slightly different bulb that fits slightly better (i.e. slightly different notches?). Not had a chance to look at the holder again as had other commitments today and now its dark!
p.s. Don't mention the Halfords thing to anyone please!
