147 Radio Display just says "Phone"

Hi there,
My Dad has a 51 plate 147 1.6 Lusso and he has a problem with the H/U stereo CD. It just displays "Phone" and he can't listen to the radio or play CDs. I know its a Blaupunkt 937 High and i've had a look on their website but i'm stumped.
He doesn't even have a phone!!
I've disconnected all the leads on the back of the unit and just plugged in the white power ISO lead but it does the same.
Has anyone any ideas?
Many thanks

PS. The main gearbox bearings collapsed just out of warranty and he stripped the gearbox and fixed it - they use UK non standard size bearings I believe (he's mechanically minded, but no interest in modern electrical devices)

It must be an internal fault - the 'phone' mode is initiated via a single cable that goes in on the green plug, so if this is disconnected it should have worked.

Try for 10A fuse, called servizi vari in fuse box.
