Flashing mileage and trip information?

Just had a electric mirror switch fitted to my wife's 147 1.9 16V JTD and have noticed that the mileage, trip (& when lights are on, headlamp height settings) flash on and off continuously. It may have already done this, but I don't drive the car much so I may not have noticed it. I've tried disconnecting the battery for an hour but to no avail.

Anyone have any suggestions/fixes.

a 'proxy alignment' is needed. It usually happens when you replace an electrical part. Nothing to worry about and it usually goes away of its own accord after a few start/stops.

whenever a device connected to the CAN bus has been replaced, the odometer will flash, indicating that the bodycomputer has detected a new CAN device. The electric mirror switch/module is such a device.
This can only be solved with a "proxy alignment", whereby the bodycomputer scans the bus for new devices. This is a simple proces that your dealer can do using the "examiner", or you can do it yourself using an OBD cable + software like multiecuscan.
