What about all this "type approval not as it left the factory" scaremongery that is being throw around regarding the DPF removal how is this any different just because its a CAT.
Ned as a "VOSA Authorised Examiner" and a person who knows Alfa's would you pass a car if the pre cats were removed knowing where and what to look for ?
I know it does not make any sense, I remember when I went on my first Authorised Examiner course we all arrived duly on time and waited for the guy from VOSA, he arrived a few minuets latter and asked us to follow him through in to the class room. We all sat down at our desks, it was like the first day at school
He then asked us all to get up from our seats and go back in to the corridor so everyone kind of looked at each other no knowing what to do or what was going on but we all did and went back out of the class room, when we were out side he said to us "leave your common sense here and go back it to the class room, this is VOSA there is no room for common sense"
In the MOT manual for petrol engined cars it says a cat must be fitted it does not say how many where as for a diesel it says if it has been removed it will fail, if the wording changes then we will change what we pass or fail
The rules change all the time i.e. for about three months last year it as a fail to have HID's fitted without hight adjust and washers fitted, it was not illegal to use a car on the road with HID's fitted so we ended up removing them for test then refitting them, ridicules
I don't agree with it but it is not my place to agree or disagree we are instructed to follow the and enforce the rules
