2008 engine in 2005 Alfa GT
Back in August 2013 my oil cooler blew on the M1 and this spelled the end for my 2005 GT 1.9JTD. Still having a loan on the car, I couldn't afford to simply get rid, so I bought an engine from 2008 GT and had the car repaired. The engine was known and had only done 21k. Also had Q2 fitted, new clutch and flywheel, Cambelt, grooved and vented brakes all round - well if you're going to to do, do it right eh!
Everything seemed great and the car ran like new, until engine warning light came on. Turned out to be a split turbo exhaust hose. But since having this repaired the car still doesn't feel right. It has a rough idle at around 800rpm, which goes after 1000rpm and doesn't seem to have the power it should low down the revs. It seems to tick over too fast too. I am wondering if the ECU is set up different for the later engine? Does anyone know if this could be it. It's not rough through the clutch, just the seat and steering wheel, so I don't think it's the new DMF! Could be another hose - would that explain it though?!
I have always trusted the garage that carried out the work (an alfa specialist), and I will have this problem looked at at it's next service. I am just out of ideas and out of pocket! Any help welcome
