End of line - 156 Sportwagon
18 months ago I managed to allow my 156 to overheat. In a hurry to a meeting, with my 80 year old mother in law in the car, and pouring with rain. On the motorway, 5 miles from home, I thought I might be able to make it. I didn't. The engine is cooked, with a mileage of 132k. The rest of the car is OK for a 2001 model.
As this was the second time that the engine had let me down in the same way, there is probably other related problems.
Fitting a replacement engine will cost more than the car is worth. An offer of £166 from a scap dealer is not the end I envisiaged for the car. Now retired I do not need a daily car, I can use the wifes, and I get my motoring kicks from my Triumph GT6.
I guess my question is, does anyone out there have a need for a 156 Sportwagon 'Y' reg, with no engine, or who is the best to take it off my drive. A sad end for another Alfa.
