Re: drilled or grooved discs?
I have been using Black Diamond Cross Drilled discs and Ferredo DS Performance pads on the front of my 2.0 selespeed and standard discs and pads on the back. The change from the original front discs and pads to the new was amazing, the braking feel is better, the braking power is improved, they pull in a dead straight line and look sexy. The rears pads need replacing soon so I think a set of good pads on the standard discs, unless the discs turn out to be very worn.
The new front discs and pads squealed badly at first, but soon settled down. If doing them yourself, remember to use LOTS of copper grease on the pad backs and sliders to avoid the brakes seizing up in use. The 8mm allen key bolt needed for the back of the brake caliper when removing it is a pig to get at and needs a good tool to undo, when I was taking mine off my cheap and chearful 8mm socket head shattered into about a million tiny pieces!
