Silver GT 3.2 V6

Cambelt whine

Drove my GT V6 this afternoon and all was well until I gave it some revs when the engine made quite a loud whining noise. This is only there when you rev the engine quite hard and is not apparent under normal driving. It's also there when the engine is revved when stationary and is from the cam belt area (thanks to my 13 year old son who loved revving the engine while I had a listen!). There is no overheating and temp is a steady 90.

From reading up on here it sounds as if it will be the water pump that is at fault. The cam belt was changed three and half years ago but was done at an main AR dealer and there is nothing to show the pump was changed, so presume it is the original plastic one.

As the belt is due to be changed in July it's not the end of the world, but the timing could be better (excuse the pun) as I spent 500 on new tyres last Saturday and road tax is due this week........:roll eyes:

The slight creak from the o/s/f upper wishbone may have to carry on a bit longer!

Could also be ps pump, alternator or several pulleys so could be a cheap fix. Why not pop it into autolusso's free Saturday surgery and get it diagnosed
