it's not that fun for sure any offence is deserved in such case. BUT we do talk about MPG here, not 'how can I get single digit MPG?'

BTW - is it possible to have a single digit MPG with 1.9JTD over the trip?

I cannot wait to see what I can get on a long run really, for this car I am hoping that I have some real world power thats usable, fun car when I am playful but also can save me a few when I am doing long trips. The perfect all rounder.

Im going to have to practice my driving technique as I am still driving like its a petrol, changing down gear when not really needed, just out of pure muscle memory

on a longer run it will be fine... for the short trips there not well suited, but just imagine how much worse the petrol car would be on the short trips

+1. I do lots of short trips on my 20V including a 3 mile each way to work. The car does, however, gets regular long trips so doesn't coke up (The only time I cleaned the EGR system was just after I got the car). I get a true 38 mpg if I have a tank of mostly short runs though this rises to near 50 mpg if driven gently on long runs. The last petrol car I used for the same journey was a relatively economical Triumph Spitfire. It did 40 mpg on long runs but only 20-25 mpg if used for short trips. Thus, diesels (at least those without DPF's) do save fuel even on short trips....
