new GT Owner

just purchased my first Alfa - a 06 1.9 JTDM GT today

car has 64k on the clock - in very good condition throughout

it came with a decent service history and all previous mots, receipts etc

the history is AR dealers to 50k - it had a clutch and timing belt done at 51k by main dealer.(Benfield)

MOTs show mileage checks out okay and it was fully hpi

the next service was by the independent dealer with an mot last week.- this service was the first for nearly 2 years.

I checked all fluid levels and everything was fine.

there is no record of a water pump change - should I be thinking about a water pump change and belt at same time for my own piece of mind.

I do around 10k a year mileage

If you do then it is a new belt as well......

If it was me then I would get an Alfa specialist to do the belts and pump, that way I know that I was good for the next 4/5 years.

+1 on that, best for peace of mind.

Try QSP in Ferryhill, good local Alfa specialist as your in Durham lots of the guys in the North East thread (myself included) use them.

make sure you always take it to an alfa specialist, not your local garage.

Why not contact Benfield first to see if the pump would have been changed when the cambelt was done. If their answer does not inspire you with confidence then take it to a good indy as advised, for peace of mind. Enjoy the car!

The pump should be changed at the same time as the belt. It just makes sense
