Would you?

My wife will soon be starting a 15 mile commute....30 miles a day.
Obviously, we are not bringing the spiders or the GTV V6 out to knock miles up, and the Merc will do to start, but may prove a little too thirsty.
I see you can get 147's for peanuts. WOULD YOU place these cars in the reliability stakes for her daily commute?

156s are even cheaper......30 miles a day is nothing - can't see any reason for an Alfa to be an issue.

No car is unreliable if looked after properly.

My commute to the office, admittedly only 2 or 3 times a week is a 195 mile round trip in my 147, and nothing has ever gone wrong... Other days I'm doing a similar mileage to other meetings.

She'll be fine, or better yet cycle and use that distance to keep fit, would be perfect.

As reliable as the rest of your Alfas. Perfect for the daily drive.

Doing 60 miles a day in my 156 v6. The only problem in 2 years has been a burst lower radiator hose, which could happen to any car, and I am annoyed that I missed its condition when I serviced it 3 months earlier.

Silver GT 3.2 V6

I commuted 30 miles a day for years in a succession of Alfa's - 145 Cloverleaf, 156 2.0 TS and 156 JTS. All were as reliable as any other car (apart from the constant airbag warning light problems on the 145!).

Luckily I only work a mile from home now so don't need a car to commute - hence the GT V6
