Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Here it goes (this info and shots were taken from the Portugues Alfisti Forum and are not mine):

1st - First, check if the 147 already comes with the pre instalation, by unscrewing the plastic cover under the steering wheel and checking for a white plug (see image).

2nd - check if there's the sensores monted on the pedals.

3rd - Get the stalk (part 735293305 or 735365522) and the new cover (part 735293341)

4th - Plug the stalk and don't forget to change the screw 1* for a bigger one so that you can get the stalk in place.

That's it.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Does anyone know offhand if the 2003 147 1.6TS 3 door comes with the cables for cruise control. If not I will get into the dash on the weekend.

Also - is the 1.6 powerful enough for cruise control - I'd imagine it should be fine on open roads.

Just had a look under the dash of my 2001 156 and it does indeed have the switch above the clutch pedal. I'll whip the cover off at the weekend and see if the plug is there as well.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

I wouldnt waste my time if your car does not have the info centre on top of the dash and the silver centre console it will not have the cruise control connection. The reason for this is before 2002 156 did not have cruise control on any trim level, as for the clutch pedal switch this was standard fit and is not only used for cruise.

It's powerful for everything, trust me! I can cruise at 50km/h as I can at 150km/h with a mountain to climb.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Did you find the socket Rockhopper? My 156 is 2001 too and fitting cruise would be sweet!

Also, I thought a few pre-facelift 156 did have cruise - before I bought mine (Veloce) I looked at a Lusso which had three stalks and didn't have the centre console display.

I found on the last car I had with cruse that I got much better mpg while using it. No temptations to just floor it every now and then and no creeping up the speed.

Eper is the Alfa parts cd that shows and lists every component and part number and is available on, you guessed it, ebay!
