Re: Rattles 'n' that
Hello Children Everywhere
I have had my 47,000 mile 2005 GT as second owner for a few weeks. Quite suddenly yesterday afternoon I got a rattle from the rear, usually over 30 MPH. I checked the sprung bump stops (60664837) on the bottom of the rear door (not boot lid, hatchback, tailgate) and they had been pushed upwards and turned clockwise to lock in position. I guessed they should spring the rear door up a little when released, so unlocked them. This improved the rattle, but how did the stops suddenly cause a rattle when they must have been in the unsprung position?
I called Fish Brothers at Swindon to check whether my car was produced after the weld modification, and the pleasant young man answering the phone was able himself to check my chassis number in about 20 seconds, to confirm no modification required or recalls (campaigns) pending.
I have also invested £3.98 including postage in a 2005 ePER DVD (ebay), which is a comprehensive all FIAT makes parts list.
