156 rev question

intermittent fault - drives perfectly sometimes, and for no reason the next time its started, will only rev about 2000revs and drive at 20mphr.....
Ran diagnostic check already, found nothing. He said however that it might be firing on only 2 cylinders even though it has a new set of plugs

Do you know if it is actually only firing on 2 cylinders? If even 1 cylinder was down then you would really know about it as the engine will be very rough. Think Trabant with even less HP.

I would be suspect of the engine management/sensor earths/connectors.
