Replace Damper or Coil Spring or Both?
I have a 2004 156 Sportwagon and over the past month I have noticed that the N/S/R corner is sitting rather low in comparison to the rest of the car, the lip of the arch is almost level with the tyre.
I took it to my local garage - the coil spring "looks" fine, however the shock absorber has leaked alot of fluid and needs replacing.
Im aware that I should change the dampers in pairs, but is it also necessary to change the rear coil springs at the same time?
I'm no mechanic but I was under the impression that if the coil spring was "ok", then the car would maintain its height even with a damaged damper?
Would a damaged damper put extra strain on the coil spring?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
