Managed to get myself another Alfa last weekend, a £500 bargain of a 156 Sportwagen
Its done 66k Miles with good service history, 11months Mot and 10 Months tax and has the 2.0 Twinspark engine - oh and its a 2001.
I am slowly sorting a few bits, like fixing the load cover and the spare load cover - that was a nice satisfying job!
Now on to the more challenging stuff. This car is going to be my daily runner and its a second car so it needs to remain cheap to keep on the road. It needs a new front passenger side wheel bearing so i have sourced a second hand hub unit that has a good bearing in it (I do not have a press to removed bearings so thought this was the best option).
Anyway, removal and re-fitting shouldnt be a problem - my one question is how precise do i need to be with the 68NM torque plus 60 degree turn on the hub nut? I dont have a torque wrench that goes that high, nor do i have an angle gauge.....
Stupid question i guess, its needs to be done properly - but how does everyone get round it? buy the right torque wrench or apply the tights tight strippeds f*cked principle?
