So I just brought my car and want to address some niggling stuff before they become problems but want to ensure I am getting the right parts for mine and through scouring this forum and the almighty google I have found myself very confused.
Right so I have a short list of things I have planned to give the alfa a little bit of TLC. Mine was a very, very well looked after car so not allot needs doing;
• Rear axle bushes starting to come away; I have been told this is very minor at this stage but I have got the odd squeak from the rear lhs when going over speed bumps and rather then let it worsen might as well get it sorted. Halfrauds quoted me an exorbitant price of £200 per side so I have decided to source my own parts and just pay fitting at a local garage as I have been told if I buy the bushes and rear arms its a three bolt job basically that should take around an hour maximum of labour. (If this is incorrect let me know)
Is this the correct part for a facelift 147?
**Powerflex Rear Suspension Rear Arm Bushes for Alfa Romeo 147 (2000-2005)**
(Powerflex Rear Suspension Rear Arm Bushes Alfa 147, 156, GT - VW TUNING, BAR-TEK Motorsport, Glader, 1.8T tuning, VW Golf, Corrado G60, Motortuning, G60, G40,
The site says it fits alfa 147 2000-2005 mine is a 05 but facelift and as the facelift version started and continued after 2005 I am concerned it is for the old shape model? Also is this the correct part that would be three bolts on and off and the easier way of replacing the rear bushes? (I was told replacing the bushes was tricky and most only supply the bushes and arms as a simple part including alfa themselves)
• Front and rear badges as the front is almost nothing but gold and the rear is starting to show signs of discolouration etc. I am struggling to source these other then official ones for like £25-£35 each off of ebay? Do the old shape and facelift 147 have the same badge size and fitments? Perhaps a trip to a local car scrappy would be a good option, I am sure there will be a few old 147's?
• Hail damage to body work, small dents on roof and bonnet which are not really too terrible but with inspection can be seen. At a few feet distance you can't but close enough the deeper few are visible. Thinking buying a bonnet off breaking one as direct replacement or PDR?
• Some alloy curbing, might refurbish or purchase some new ones? Want to stick alfa originals not chavey halfords specials or anything.
Any advice would really help me out, don't relish the idea of wasting money on the wrong part
Thanks Guys and Gals
