Re: What tyres and why????
Berty, what are your criteria?
Wet or Dry handling performance?
Motorways or B road?
Note that generally all road tyres are a compromise.
ie a tyre that is soft and sticky will be expensive and generally last not so well.
A tyre that is designed to last a rep covering long motorway miles will be a hard compound and may not corner too well.
If you want good handling (but a bit pricey) tyres then you wonít go wrong with Goodyear F1, Toyo Proxes, Dunlop Sport 9000/8000, Avon ZZ3 and Yokohama. For long life I would say Continental EcoContact. A decent cheaper tyre is Firestone. Avoid cheaper Pirellis such as P6000.
Two bits of advice, donít try to scrimp on tyres especially if you enjoy driving quickly and try your local independent fitter, they will usually beat Kwik Fit et al on cost and will generally have no hidden extras such as paying extra for balancing and valves.
