147 Multiple Electrical Failures - Not a coincidence?
I'm posting on behalf of a friend who I recently passed the Alfa Bug to.
He bought a 147 1.9 JTD 8v (115PS), and he's Italian without any usable no claims bonus here in the UK. As a result, he was shafted with insurance a bit and was forced to get a black box installed with his policy.
He took the car to a garage to have the black box installed at the weekend. When he got the car back, the electric windows didn't work, there was an engine temperature sensor failure, and the boot mechanism doesn't work.
Are these circuits linked in some way that the garage could have disturbed / f**ked something up to cause all of these failures?
I have a feeling the garage are trying to claim it's just "dodgy alfa electrics", but this is too much of a coincidence, and in my experience Alfa's electrics aren't so bad that 3 new failures will occur at once.
Any help/suggestions/techical advice would be appreciated. Unfortunately I don't know the name of the garage, nor would I want to disclose it yet just in case it turns out not to be their wrong-doing.
