One of the partners blind sided me. He is not charmed by Alfa because of the trouble a friend of him had a year ago with his brand new 147.
1. he wants to lease on financial basis only: finance the car, deal with insurance, maintenance and tax yourself (the company). Which means he doesn't like Alfas for he reckons they tend to be at the shop a lot.
2. the given max. estimate by his co-partner was VAT included
. Can you think of any entrepreneur who thinks of costs including
VAT? The VAT on costs can be claimed back from the IRS.
3. He was talking about a fee (out of my net salary) I had to pay to the company for driving a more expensive car. He named amounts up to 200 per month
I had a talk with a co-employee of mine. He drives a 307 SW and he has to pay the company 200 net per month for driving it from home to work and back again. Paying your employer to get to work: how weird is that
What is most upsetting: I am driving a 2005 Golf 2.0 FSI on petrol. The max amount of KM's per year is 15,000. I found this out by calling the lease company. I drive nearly 3 times that. Still I don't pay any fee to the company. When I learned about the max milage, I opted to my employer to get me another car, since they stood to pay a huge amount on KM's exceeding the 15K per year.
So I save my employer a huge amount of extra costs, only to be faced with a deal on an Alfa to exceed my budget.
Right now it seems that my efforts to protect the company from having to pay up to 1.000 in extra milage costs backfires on me in an unfair way.
I have a Golf for which I don't pay a net contribution. I could have kept my mouth shut, leaving me with the Golf and the same net salary. Selespeed would disagree, but I need the extra net income.
Now it seems like I get to pay a net contribution for any car I choose (be it an Alfa or a Lada for that matter) seeing as my co-employee pays 200 a month for a 307 SW.
I save the company money and this is their thanks?
Next Thursday we are going to settle this once and for all.
