induction kits

I have read before on this forum that the K&N 57i induction kit is a waste of time. Any recommendations for one worth having?

Re: induction kits

It's expensive, and with a small gain.

The best induction mod for the TS based 156's is to fit a performance air filter to the standard airbox but replace the front inlet with the one from the 156 2.5V6 as the V6 has the resonators in the inlet pipe after the airfilter and the TS has them before. by replacing the TS inlet pipe with the V6 one you get a straight through air system, just like an induction kit.

The V6 inlet pipe is a part you can order from your dealer for about 15-20 quid and the performance filter is somewhere around 30-35 quid, a lot less than the packaged up kits.

Also the 156 engine bay is quite hot and there is not a lot of room for open induction kits which means unless you are going fast enough and can pipe enough cold air into the open kit it will draw warm air from the engine bay - just what you don't want to do...

Re: induction kits

Induction kits get cold air from outside the engine bay, normally wih a decent filter. 156's already have cold air induction standard from factory, so you would probably save money by doing as decribed above - change pipe and filter.

Re: induction kits

Change the air filter and replace the TS resonator box with an intake pipe from a GTA.

Re: induction kits

There's not much wrong with the standard filter, just change it more often. (every 6 months or so)
I'd avoid any filter that needs oiling, due to MAF fouling.
