engine life of a 1.8TS following bottom end repair
Looking to buy a 2002 facelift 156. After a test drive, I noticed that there was a lack of power as well as the engine light being on. Dealer promised to find the fault and get it sorted prior to completing thee transaction.
Turns out the problem was a lack of engine compression in one of the cylinders and the car has been booked into a garage, total bill £850, paid by the dealer at no extra cost to me. I have been told the car will have a new head gasket, 4 new pistons, piston rings as well as new cambelt (which was due soon any way). The car has 117k on the clock and full alfa history, more or less a full service 2-3 times a year by Caladonia.
Readin the site, appears to have suffered from oil starvation to cause the problem, but if i were t buy it and treat it right, how much more life can i get from it, im not a heavy user and unlikely to do more than 9k a year...
