Sorry to say, but that sounds like the cambelt - as others have said, dont try to turn it over again.
The stop could be down to an Engine management issue, the start to a starter bendix failure, but the two together........cambelt has lost teeth or lost tension resulting in valves colliding with pistons.
Has it ever been changed? they really need done every 36K miles, although the service book says inspect/replace at this interval and there is a lengthy service bulletin about how to inspect them which means removing all the covers and undertray.
Most guys just replace the belts and teniosners on V6's and Twin Sparks (inc JTS) every 36K.
Sorry Man - you may have a big bill ahead.
