Well, I didn't set out to do this but I'm going to fit some Ebay arms to my 156 JTD 175 and update you on their performance (or lack of). Fingers crossed...
This is the kit I bought:
1 yr 'no quibble' warranty - hopefully won't be needing that.
Cost £89.88 + £7.99 (24hr delivery, 'slow' del. is £5.99) = £97.98
I ordered on Monday around 4pm (I think?), and it all arrived just after midday Tuesday! So I was VERY impressed by the speed of delivery.
..was less impressed by the packaging. Everything 'loose', just covered by one layer of bubble wrap:
I've given them a quick inspection and it all seems OK. Balljoints are nice and stiff, etc. We'll find out what they're really like once they've carried the weight of the car for a bit.
I plan to fit them this weekend, along with the new driveshaft I have (£££!) - should be a different car once it's all back together. That's the hope anyway. Here is my offside wheel arch, as my Dad and I left it on Sunday night:
I love cars, I hate cars
ps - I'm pondering putting some Silicone grease on the bushes before fitting them? Just to help waterproof them, help them from drying out, etc. My only worry is that the grease will attract dirt and have a negative effect. So I was thinking about applying some Silicone grease (or ideally some kind of polymer if that exists?), leaving it overnight and then wiping off any excess before fitting them. Not sure if it's best to try and help them now, or just fit them 'dry'? Any comments or suggestions?
