ALFA 156 Codes.... replacement keys etc...
I purchased a 2nd hand Sportwagon 156 Lusso 2.4 JTD (03 reg) last week and am very happy with it.
However, on reading the manual I see references to a code card that contains alarm, stereo and immobiliser codes apparently...
The car I purchased was from a company selling on their company cars after the salesman had had them from 3 years. They don't recall any card ever being in the bundle of docs I have be given.
I have 3 spare keys. However, 2 of them had broken alarm/door unlock buttons, I duly followed an article on the web and re-soldered the stray microswitches that had broken loose. However, they no longer work, despite the switch functioning. It seems the company went back to the Alfa dealer and had a new key created with what seems to be a different code to the alarm. Yet all 3 keys can start the car... Also I have no idea what the stereo code is so no doubt when the battery gets replaced I'll need that too....
So my question is in preparation to following up with the Alfa dealer that has been looking after this car:
1. Does this code card exist.
2. With proof of ownership will they print out a new one?
3. To get a replacement key with the alarm configured correctly how much will I be looking at? Is there a difference in pricing between different dealers? What have forum reader paid for new keys?
4. If the code card doesn't exist do all Alfa dealers have access to these codes to resolve my issues should I run into any?
Clearly I am a bit worried I only have one key that can toggle the alarm? I understand I can use the key to disable the alarm completely... but would rather not have to do this...
I look forward to your responses.
