The reason why I'm replacing my suspension is because together with the the 2005 facelift, the suspension was changed, and is imho too soft, causes too much bodyroll & doesn't seem to react fast enough. Will probably be replaced by Bilstein B6 sports.
KoFFiE, have you done this yet? I was going to ask if anyone had changed from the facelift 'comfort' suspension to Bilstein B6 or anything else....
I have a 2005 facelift 2.0 TS, with 17" wheels, which I've had now for only about 3 months. Overall, I'm loving my 147 so far
... definitely no regrets.
Not sure about the suspension being 'too soft' or otherwise... I find the feel and handling over rough streets pretty rough (and I used to have 17" alloys with similar tyres on my prevous car, an Astra), You can really feel bumps and potholes (of which there are many in my town and Sydney) and as other ppl have said before, the otherwise good handling often feels compromised on these streets. The jolt and noise from some larger potholes makes worry about damage to the car and alloys
. (Can't imagine what the pre-facelift suspension feels like). Sometimes I think there is a little too much bodyroll, but this is a minor issue in comparison.
As I know next to nothing about suspension, springs and dampeners, can someone explain in layman's terms how different the ride comfort/handling etc would/might feel if I invested in Bilstein B6s or similar??? I've read various posts about how much better Bilstein B6s etc are, but I assume most of these were compared to standard suspension on pre-facelift 147s. And better sports handling might mean worse day-to-day crappy-road handling for me, for all I know.
