Buying a new 156...

Yes, it's true, I'm buying a new 156, here in Chile.

I went to a dealer, just to check the new 159 and Brera. They are stunning, but very expensive. I have now a 2001 156 2.0 TS (I bought it new in 2002), very reliable until now, but I always liked the facelifted interior.

I knew that the main importer had ONE 156 left ("Giugiaro facelift"), and I'm thinking in buying one. As it is the last one, I'll have to make a special order for it, but I don't know what can I expect.

I have some silly doubts. For example:
- The door sills, have metal inserts like the 147?
- The headlights, are better than the old one?
- The most common problems, are the same?
- What things are perfected?

I don't know what will the chilean importer do from now on. In my country, Alfas doesn't depreciate as heavily as in the UK (except the 166), so I think they are positioning the 159 against the Audi A4 and the likes. That said, maybe this will be my last new Alfa (al least of this size).

Thanks a lot,

Re: Buying a new 156...

the JTS engine can sometimes give grief i.e. high oil consumption.
but the last 156's are pretty solid cars and you may get a nice discount on the list price !!!! just do it !

Crazed Re: Buying a new 156...

Finally, I got a new 156. It is the facelifted model, with 16" alloy wheel, dual climate control, ASR, VDC, etc.

Interestingly, is a 2.0 Twin Spark!!

Anyway, I'm very happy with it. I always loved the TS engine . The suspension is softer, but I don't see greater body roll.

The high quality plastics are one of the best things of this version.
