Check your driveshafts, if there is a damaged boot, where the grease would have escaped, that will be your problem. new shaft. Sounds like shaft to me, thats exactly how they manifest themselves. And there is nothing wrong with flooring it at those revs, its designed to be driven like that, diesels have their torque low down, and the drivetrain is designed likewise. Thats why the shafts and gearboxes are different on diesel and petrol. But replacing boots, if they split, immediately, is important.
