156 Cooling/warm up issues
OK so now the temps are dropping my 156 2.0 is testing me a bit.
On a cold morning it blows warm air very quickly from the heater ( within half a mile its starting to get warm ) but if I leave the heater on hot it seems to take a long time - several miles - before it gets up to 90 and the stat opens, it then drops back to 70 and then sits somewhere between 70 and 90. - heater is hot all this time.
However if I leave the heater set to cold the engine warms up much quicker - once the stat has opened I turn the heater on and all is good.
The stat and water pump are only a couple of months old, radiator is new, not losing any coolant. It seems to steam quite a bit from cold but reading on here this seems to be a typical 156 trait and as its not using any coolant and there is nothing to indicate any HG issues I'm not concerned about this.
Is this just a 156 quirk or is something actually wrong ?
Do I have an airlock somewhere ?
What seems to be happening is that if I have the heater on hot and the blower on its acting like a mini radiator and cooling the coolant down to the point where its slowing the warm-up of the engine !
I like to have the heater on as soon as possible on these cold morning and the heater is really good - but I dont want to do this at the expense of fuel economy if its causing the engine to run cool.
