you don't need take anything off the underside, you get to it from above. Sorry i don't have any pics but here's the wordy version:-
big black plastic pipes to the right of the engine cover - the one towards the front of the car connects to the top of the air filter box. They are connected with flexible joints so you can move them about,but still use caution so as not to stress them too much
the air box itself is black and plastic and it mounted upright, with the cover facing the engine. That is also the direction it comes off.
there are 2 spring clips at the sides at the top of the air box, just pop them open with your finger.
The cover - still attached to the large black pipe - comes off upwards and towards the engine. The over has 2 locating lugs at the bottom which sit inside 2 corresponding "holes". Be sure to line them up when you first reattach the cover.
you will immediately see the air filter, which just pulls out.
I am talking about my 2.0 Selespeed which is a 2004 model, just in case none of this makes any sense because Alfa changed the layout....
