Re: Another MAF thread
Off line diagnosis like this is of course a very uncertain science. But your cars symptoms sounds pretty much like the latest map problem on my wifes 2.o spider. First the ijector warning light came on, but thats not so uncommon on the 01 models. But I did not detect any errors in the cars behaviour. But then later on the engine lacked grunt at high revs. Then the idle became very high 2-2,5' at start up before slowly settling at normal rpm. Then came a rattling or tappety noise when accelerating hard above 4'rpm. The sound made me suspect the tappets. Then it refused to rev above 4,5' rpm.
Switched to new MAF. Instant change! At starting it did not rev up at all above the 800 or so. Accelerating was no longer any problems or hesitation. And also the tappety sound at hard acceleration is no longer there (which I was very sure did not have anything to do with MAF!!!).
So at the prices for a new maf these days I would try a new one. But again; off line diagnosis is not .....
Good luck anyway! Its such a difference when all the fun is back!!!
