156 Power Steering Jerky and Whining
I have an intermittent whine coming from, what I suspect is, the power steering.
Every now and then the car makes a whining noise when turning the steering wheel left and right.
The noise gets louder as the engine speed increases.
Push the throttle and the whine grows.
Turn the steering and the whine grows.
Tiny, off-centre steering adjustments, such as a slow bend on a motorway cause steering issues. It's as though the steering is late to assist and then over compensates and I have to counter steer a small amount.
But it does mean I end up moving the steering wheel a lot to keep it on a stable curve, or indeed in a straight line.
I have had to top up the PS fluid a few times so there must be a leak. Any estimates for a power steering pump?
Had the tracking done very recently and the suspension seemed a lot crashier afterwards. Wondering whether the toe/camber adjustments have messed up things.
