156 1.6 Twin Spark running cold? newbie
have just got a 156 1.6 twin spark and am looking for a bit of help and advice.
the car runs well revs cleanly pulls well no flat spots and starts first turn etc, the issue is that she runs cold, she has been standing for a while i believe and during driving the temp gauge sits just above 50, if i let it idle for 25-30 mins the gauge will go up to 90 and sit around there, then when i drive it again drops back to just above 50.
no heat comes through the vents and the car dose not overheat or even get above half way up the gauge. under the oil cap is a bit of mayo but none on the dipstick and she steams a bit from the exhaust so i suspected a HG, however there is no pressurization of the coolant system or signs of oil in the coolant and the car runs well and the water coolant level is not dropping, have had suggestions of an air lock or maybe a thermostat on the blink?
any suggestions or advice would be much appriciated
