147 TS Coolant jiggery pokery
Hi guys, after a bit of advice.
Since the weather turned cold, I've been noticing a bit of coolant loss, nothing drastic, maybe 30-50ml a fortnight.
Changed the coolant in July/August for the pink OAT type, mixed 50/50 with distilled water.
Also noticing the car taking a while to heat to 90 deg, but not by much, maybe an extra mile or so, have noticed it drop from 90 once or twice, but no more than 5 deg or the next notch down on the gauge.
Have noticed after a bit of a drive a smell of coolant, and yesterday, a drop on top of the expansion tank, but no other sign of a leak.
Car runs fine, no water in the exhaust (once warmed) no error codes etc. Whilst I appreciate a sniff test or compression test will identify if the headgasket is failing, there's no sign of oil in the water , or vice versa, likewise the coolant is clean and not cloudy.
The whole system is imaculate inside, no traces of corrosion or sludge and the waterpump was changed with the belts about 9k ago. Likewise, no corrosion or signs of leaks on the radiator.
Thermostat is the original as far as I'm aware, could this be the cause of my issues, or any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
