Squeaky Suspension

Since the start of the good weather my old JTD has started to squeak like an old tarts bedsprings. When driving along this can be heard quite loudly inside the car and when stationary can be heard if you push on the top of the wing.
I know Alfa's rubbers are quite bad but is this a case of spraying/brushing some oil/WD40 on them or is it more sinister. I have also had some suspension knocking for some time but this is only on the off side where as the squeaking appears to be near side.

Re: Squeaky Suspension

The heavy JTD and V6 engines cause the wishbones to fail pretty quickly, and all the dry weather makes them squeak. At the risk of sounding as if I don't care(*) have you used the "search" feature on this forum. You will find a plethora of threads on here related to squeaks and suspension.

(*) The knocking is possibly the anti-roll bar drop links and the squeaks can sometimes be reduced with copious quantities of WD40 on the mounting bushes. Although once they start to squeak you are probably looking at replacements.

a very dirty car

Re: Squeaky Suspension

Use a proper rubber lubricant rather than WD40 as it won`t dry out after 2 days and leave you with the same squeak.
