Help Notchy Gearbox - Is this how they are on 156?

Can other 156 owners let me know whether I should take my car back to the dealer, or is a notchy gearbox standard on this car?

I bought a new 156 20v JTD in Dec 05 and the gears have been difficult from the off. As well as the clunking between 1st, 2nd & 3rd in particular, there was also a tightness which developed and it became difficult to get the car into 1st when stationary. I returned the car to Alfa and they eventually carried out soem warranty work, which got rid of the tightness. However, the notchy change remains. I don't know whether they changed the gearbox completely, or stripped it and replaced something.

Am I being over fussy? I have not expereinced this king of thing on a car for a long time and don't expect it on such an expensive and prestigious marque as Alfa.

Also, can I take my car to a different dealer for warranty work, or am I stuck with the one where I bought the car (Perrys)?

I would appreciate your help on this

You can take the car to any Alfa Main Dealer anywhere in Europe.
In theory you can actually take it to any VAT registered Alfa Specialist, but the warranty claim will be simpler if it goes to a Main Dealer.
