MCSF on 10 yr old 156 TSpark 1.8

Hi , New to all things Alfa , My lovely 156 has upset me with the MCSF light popping up , car seems to be running as per normal , I am in westcliff on sea in Essex , does anyone know where I can get an easy quick ( and cheap ) diagnosis ? or anyone have an idea ? The car has done just over 100k and runs fine , it starts straight off . I bought it on a whim as I have always hankered for an alfa ever since I realised at age 21 I could not afford the insurance ! now I am an old 21 I can afford the insurance ( only just ) but hope the headaches will not be terminal as my love for alfa has never diminished and I sorely hope it continues !

Hi Chedd! I think we can only help you if you get the error codes read by a diagnostics software, like MultiECUScan, AlfaOBD,... and a proper cable set.

Even a dying battery can cause that ... does it sound like it is beginning to struggle starting in the morning? Check the battery it may have a date on it ... 5+ years is getting on and will let you down eventually.

Multiecuscan can be downloaded from here: Multiecuscan - Diagnostics software for Italian cars

I use a bluetooth interface with my android phone and laptop:

My local indie now charges £60 to read fault codes
