I really need some help on a clutch fault, I heard of the famous pin but looking at this it appears to be what the pin goes into.. I have attached a picture (I think? Never posted before)
Above the clutch pedal is a gold circular ring with a bush inside. The bush appears to be in really bad shape and is hanging out of both sides, the gold ring is no longer sitting straight and really crunches and moves when I push the clutch.
I explained this to two mechanics who have no idea what I'm talking about and they say it's the pin and to bring it in but I don't want to drive it incase it breaks and they can't fix it.
Can anyone tell me what the broken part is called?
Yeah I checked for any debris and none. The pin is still in it and looks fine it's everything around it that appears to have disintegrated! Clutch still works fine but nothy and cracking as I lift up. Started happening on way home from work today.
Think I will leave it parked and get someone around - thanks :-)
I have not been able to get a new bush, I was told it comes as part of the Kit for the Clutch Slave Cylinder which is £300 fitted.
The metal sleeve in the old bush was ok and a perfect fit the old ford escort exhaust rubber hole, i just cut it into a circle, squeezed it in and put a bigger washer on it as there was no lip and all is good! thanks for your help :-)
