Having hellish Alfa luck, have my 147 jtd lying in bits after cambelt snapped and now the GT is causing me problems. Had a noise from engine assumed it was alternator but no the noise is coming from inside engine bla bla probably not worth fixing! Sooooo my idea was to source a jtd diesel engine and fit it to the GT.. anyone know if such a heart transplant is realistic? As the current 2.0 JTS lump only made it to 85,000 miles im nae keen on replacing like for like!
Its do able yes.
But its going to be far easier to just get a replacement JTS lump.
You'd virtually need a full front end and wiring from a JTD to do it.
The easier engine swaps are always Like for like swaps.
It gets very complex when changing formats.
Not to mention you'll then have the incorrect suspension spring weight for a JTD lump.
Different clocks and ECU to run the car.
Right pain in the bottom.
aye suspected it may be a bit of hassle! I'll look into a like for like heart transplant I think!
