LMFAO! Just me or have you just been weighing up what would happen to your wife at 70mph in the event of cam belt failure??? Safety of your wife and kids not worth 500 quid???? Even if I'd does roll to a stop as mine did at 72k would you want her in that situation?
Cough up the 500 and look after your wife and car properly!
What you on about? My Wife's never driven at more than 50mph
Seriously though, with my Alfas, I've never really skimped on getting what needs doing done, especially if it's safety or longevity of the car, that's why the only time I've ever broken down in 60k miles is from a crank sensor and got towed once from a failed power steering pump, but could've driven home. I've spent a lot of money on the car in the last year, new wishbones, powerflexed GTA ARB's, Eibachs, new dampers, new Michellin PS2's, refurbed alloys, newer exhaust. Belts have always been done on or before time, but knowing that I'm either giving the car away or possibly to Autolusso, I just don't want to spend £500 for what could be as little as a week until a new car. Considering the replies and how few miles the belts have done, I don't think I'm risking safety anymore than someone actually driving out on the roads, but I appreciate what everyone as said, pro or con. Besides my Wife and I don't need to be in a car to have a near death experience, if u know where I'm coming from
To be honest if it wasn't interested in safety, I prob wouldn't be buying a 159, I'd be buying a GTA sportwagon or a facelift 156 sw. Still love the shape and GTA cabin is so good.
